MOTORWAYS
Twente’s XL Businesspark is situated directly alongside the A35 motorway which is just a few minutes’ drive from the A1 motorway. In other words, XL Businesspark provides excellent access to one of Europe’s key transport links, giving you a direct connection to Eastern Europe, the Randstad conurbation and the Ruhr region.
WATERWAYS
Are you shipping containers by water? XL Businesspark has a public loading/unloading quay directly alongside the Twente Canal which connects to the national network of rivers and canals. Thanks to the public loading/unloading quay and the on-site Combi Terminal Twente, it is easy to transport containers from the ship to the distribution centre and vice versa. CTT manages the public loading/unloading quay at XL Businesspark, and it is available for use by third parties.
RAIL
As the popularity of shipping containers by rail continues to rise, intermodal transport is playing an ever-greater role within the various traditional modalities. The same holds true for the containers that arrive in Rotterdam as ocean freight. These can easily be transported onwards by rail to destinations in the German border region, such as Bad Bentheim (a German town close to Enschede). This makes it ideal for Twente-based companies who ship containers as rail freight. Moreover, Bad Bentheim has rail links with the rest of Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern and Southern Europe. In an intermodal approach to transport, ocean containers can be rapidly transported as road freight from Bad Bentheim to Twente or by rail from there to the rest of Europe.
AIRPORT
Twente Airport is in the direct vicinity, which opens up opportunities for international business flights, and there are plans to extend the airport’s activities with cargo transport in the future.
COMBI TERMINAL TWENTE (CTT)
CTT is a high-tech inland terminal in Hengelo, with its own storage and transshipment terminals in Rotterdam, Almelo and Bad Bentheim (Germany). As a professional logistics partner, this offers the benefits of synchromodal transport including opportunities for container transport by water, rail freight services and container shipping by road. Besides the Netherlands and the German hinterland, the possible destinations also include Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Southern Europe.
Thanks to the close collaboration with Combi Terminal Twente, fast and professional container handling is guaranteed. The 26,000m2 terminal has space for 15,000 containers and there are plans to expand this to 25,000 containers. For more information on container transport, go to www.ctt-twente.nl.
