There is a need for systems that are publicly available:

  • to synchronize modalities
  • to monitor the state of the infrastructure
  • to keep track of available warehouse capacity
  • to know where industrial space is available

Together with Port of Twente, eXomodal develops such public systems by providing:

  1. a platform that is public available and that can be used by partners in the chain of distribution
  2. an interface for which other parties can develop services
  3. a business architecture with associating business models

eXomodaleXomodal for developing public services to streamline the logistic chain

7 principles to make systems open

  1. Make a system netcentric (the network is important) in stead of pointcentric (the company is important)
  2. Transparency is subjective, so only information that one is willing to share is shared
  3. Govern the message protocol to receive data in big data systems, in stead of the data itself
  4. Crosslinks between data is more important than data, so develop crosslink warehouses in stead of data warehouses
  5. Develop services on public available data and enrich these services with private data in stead of the other way around
  6. Extend the network with more sensors if data is missing or too shallow
  7. Compliance and control on results of systems
